Pronouns: she/her
Bio
Allie Cole (she/her), is a marine scientist who loves to dive and explore the oceans. She graduated from Boston University in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Science. At BU, her research was exploring how larval fish distributions are changing with climate patterns. Allie taught a team of eight students how to identify larval fish and plankton and worked closely with multiple international collaborators. She was the recipient of the Lara Vincent Undergraduate Research Award for her work. Analysis of this data led Allie to UCSB’s Bren School of Environmental Sciences and Management, where she is currently working towards a Masters in Environmental Data Science. While turning the raw data from her project into understandable results, Allie realized it was a fascinating and important process and one she wants to become very comfortable in. She is interested in bridging the gap between research and data analysis, making data more open and accessible. Eventually, Allie would like to be asking questions within marine ecology and using the knowledge gained in her master’s program to share the answers she finds.
