Bio
Izzy Sofio graduated magna cum laude from the University of Colorado, Boulder (2020) with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a minor in English. Drawn to the intersection of the environment, people, and communications, she conducted research on topics like eco-anxiety and the impacts of environmental media on individual behaviors during her undergraduate education. After graduating, Izzy began facilitating and supporting stakeholder and community engagement projects relating to natural resource policy issues in Colorado and New Mexico. This experience opened her mind to new perspectives on natural resource management and environmental issues and inspired her return to higher education. In addition to her experiences with facilitation, the increasingly devastating impacts of climate change and her drive to find scalable climate solutions are why Izzy is at Bren. She plans to pursue the Conservation Planning and Policy specializations to learn how to improve community climate adaptation, develop scalable policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and implement carbon-free practices.
