Bio
From a young age, Jackson took an interest in the natural world, with his love of animals and the outdoors defining his childhood. This passion persisted, and when Jackson attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), he decided to pursue a B.S. in Environmental Studies. There, he took an interest in ecology, GIS, and conservation, securing a position as an intern and later a student worker at the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration (CCBER). At CCBER, Jackson assisted in the restoration of coastal sage scrub and wetland habitat by planting native species, conducting ecological monitoring surveys, carrying out a prescribed burn, and implementing other restoration strategies. After graduating from UCSB in 2022, Jackson worked as a Conservation Biologist for ManTech, where he worked on similar projects to restore native wetland habitat on Vandenberg Space Force Base. These experiences helped to reinforce his interest in addressing conservation issues. However, Jackson is also excited to expand his knowledge into other environmental fields, particularly in the areas of water resources management, environmental planning, and data science. Jackson is excited to continue to develop his technical skills and environmental expertise at Bren, focusing on conservation planning and water resources management.
