Bio
Lacking the foresight of his future academic plans as a Gaucho, Jake graduated as a Mustang from Cal Poly SLO in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He joins the Bren school having spent his professional career in the solar energy industry. He worked in a variety of disciplines, beginning with engineering and project management and expanding into operations, sales and business development for multiple solar integrators in California. His technical background combined with his market-based pragmatism has allowed Jake to engage in many ventures, such as operating his own energy consulting business or serving as an advisory board member for an educational solar non-profit. Much like his larger goals in life, he has a desire to explore many paths at Bren, knowing he would like to build on his experience of implementing sustainable infrastructure solutions in the private sector. He enjoys teaching real-world skills to others and hopes someday to be an instructor at the university level, bringing industry experience into academia. Jake finds joy and meaning in nature and has a specific fire for surfing and backpacking. Above all else, he values the quality of his relationships with people as the ultimate barometer of success in his life.
