Something About Me
A fourth year Environmental Studies (B.A.) student and second year Bren-Environmental Studies Fellow, Kaori aspires a research career utilizing her skills in habitat restoration, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and water quality for the betterment of human health and the natural world. From 2023-2024, she interned with Your Children’s Trees, an urban forestry and environmental education nonprofit organization. Beginning in 2023, she has been the principal investigator assisting research for two Bren Ph.D students for two studies: one, microplastic interaction with the microbiome, and two, people, plastics, and PFAS, topics aligning with Kaori’s interest in soil and water quality. In the summer of 2024, to further her interests in data analysis and map generating, Kaori will join the Equitable Agriculture and Environmental Management Program, which provides training in statistics (coding in R) and GIS methods, guides research projects, and facilitates professional development. In her personal time, she plays guitar, hikes, creates collages from magazines, and cooks meals with friends. She rowed for two years with UCSB's club rowing team, and before then, she played softball.
