Bio
Katheryn Moya is a MESM student who graduated with distinction from Connecticut College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and a certificate in Public Policy and Community Action. Katheryn spent the majority of her undergraduate studies focused on the intersection between a healthy environment and social justice. She was able to put this into practice through community organizing internships at nonprofits such as FRESH New London and WE ACT for Environmental Justice. Her experience studying abroad in New Zealand as well as her Ecuadorian heritage informed her view that indigenous sustainability and its successes should be at the forefront of environmental management. Katheryn aims to amplify local and indigenous voices in her work to ensure the just and equitable use of our natural resources. Katheryn will pursue her passion of ecosystem-based conservation and community work at the Bren School, where she has been awarded the prestigious Forest Sustainability Fellowship and will specialize in Conservation Planning with a focus on strategic environmental communication.
