Bio
Katie Munster graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Information Management and Technology. During her undergraduate career, Katie completed a thesis project, for which she used programming and data analysis skills to study the effect of citizen science applications on the marine plastic pollution crisis. This project was inspired by her semester abroad in college, where she was fortunate to learn from marine scientists in Spain and Morocco, as well as her previous experiences with a local marine research and education foundation. Katie helped build a remotely operated vehicle for capturing underwater video footage of plastic pollution, which her robotics team donated to the local research foundation. Upon college graduation, she worked as a Technology Consultant in the Cybersecurity practice at Ernst & Young, LLP. While her experiences consulting for Big Tech were integral to her career and professional growth, Katie decided to change directions and focus on solving environmental problems. At the Bren School, Katie hopes to specialize in Corporate Environmental Management to help corporations improve their environmental management practices.
