Bio
Kylie McGuire graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2021 with a B.S. in Earth System Science. There, she studied restoration ecology methods as an intern for the Center for Environmental Biology. After graduating, she worked as an environmental field technician, then did a summer research program on environmental aerosols before taking a job at her local public library. Kylie enjoyed doing research but always felt a desire to translate scientific findings into environmental solutions. While working, she completed an A.S. in Geospatial Information Systems Technology in pursuit of that goal. As a library employee, she jumped at every opportunity to bring science engagement to the community designing STEM-inspired craft programs and science-themed book displays. She loved connecting people with information. Now, Kylie is at Bren to learn to turn information into action. An enthusiastic consumer of science media, Kylie wants to create accessible science communication products that leverage data visualization, audio, and video. Her interests include climate change mitigation through decarbonization and land management. She intends to pursue specializations in Conservation Planning and Energy and Climate as well as the Strategic Communication focus.
