Letty Aguilar
Bio
Letty Aguilar graduated from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) in 2022 with a B.A in Environmental Science and Policy and a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). During her undergraduate career, she worked with a collogue and professor on a research project using GIS and Remote Sensing to conduct an error analysis on an algorithm map of dead trees on River Ridge Ranch. Based on findings they were able to reduce error by a significant percentage and completed an analysis of the geographic aspects of tree deaths on the Ranch. Their findings will provide a perspective on the geographic and topographic effects of Oak Tree health during extreme drought conditions. She also worked at the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) as an intern and upon graduation, as the Water Use Efficiency Program Assistant. At MWDOC she assisted with research and the implementation of water use efficiency programs that will be attainable and economical for both business owners and homeowners.
Her personal experience with water stress in a rural community in El Salvador motivated her to continue pursuing a career in water conservation. At Bren she plans to specialize in Water Resources Management. Her goal after graduating is to work in water conservation to successfully manage water resources and provide accessible clean water to communities.
