Bio
Matilde Saucedo, a first-generation college student, graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara University (2019). She majored in Accounting and minored in Environmental Studies. Matilde became interested in exploring environmental issues after moving from the lush Midwest to drought-ridden California. This, along with her family’s ties to the agriculture industry in Mexico, amplified her specific interest in water rights and management.
Upon graduation, Matilde took a job at Apple with the goal of learning about the corporate world before pursuing a master’s degree. She spent three years on Apple’s Investor Relations team where she served as a member of the working group that created Apple’s ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) strategy. Matilde helped socialize the need for more transparent public reporting, co-authored Apple’s first ESG report (published 2021), coordinated annual engagements with investors, and managed the company’s external recognition of environmental & social practices.
At the Bren School, Matilde hopes to specialize in Water Resources Management so she can return to a corporate setting with more technical skills. She wants to be able to inform a company’s roadmap for reducing water consumption, ensuring water quality, and promoting the availability of a vital resource that represents a basic human right.
