Meghan Roberts graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami (UM) in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and Biology with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. Meghan spent three and a half years as an undergraduate researcher, where she split her time between the Marine Genomics Lab and the Rosenstiel School Toadfish Lab. For her senior thesis, she examined the impact of antidepressants on the Gulf toadfish’s ability to withstand low oxygen conditions. Her passion for communicating science led her to present her research to middle schoolers as a part of UM’s Women in Science Day. She also served as the vice president of the UM's Marine Mammal Rescue Team where she increased their community engagement through social media. Her work with the ocean and her love for outdoor spaces led her to apply to the Bren School, where she is concentrating in Conservation Planning and Coastal Marine Resource Management. During this program, she wants to learn more about the policy, business, and economic landscape surrounding environmental issues to help her better conserve marine ecosystems that support marine mammals.
