Bio
Michael Roysner graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2021 earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in History of Arts and Architecture. While in high school, Michael sought ways that he could connect with the environment and got involved with non-profit organizations managing wildfire restoration in the Santa Monica Mountains. During his undergraduate studies, Michael’s course work involved public resource conservation and management policy and the governance of the environment on the local and national scale. This began to lay the foundation for his future aspirations. While his coursework helped develop his interest in how communities are involved in their environment, his role as a Novice Rowing Coach at UCSB solidified his career goals. Watching how his athletes interacted with and benefited from the parks and waterways they rowed in showed Michael the importance of conserving these resources. Michael intends to specialize in Environmental Policy and Conservation Planning at the Bren School and hopes to ultimately work as an environmental district manager or director at the county, state, or federal level. He hopes to use his career to increase community engagement with the environment and promote the creation of urban forests and green spaces.
