Bio
Nicole graduated from the University of California Los Angeles in 2018 with a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies and a minor in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). At Bren, she is eager to advance her expertise in GIS, programming, and AI to tackle environmental challenges. She is passionate about science communication, particularly in how storytelling, maps, and other visualizations can translate data into actionable solutions.

She spent the past five years applying GIS and remote sensing technologies to conservation projects and more recently, in agriculture and food security. Currently, as the Program and Communications Coordinator at NASA Acres, she coordinates a portfolio of research projects that use satellite data to enhance agricultural systems in the U.S.

Nicole's previous experience includes working as a Geospatial Analyst at Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, where she contributed to projects like the Yampa River Forest Restoration Program and the Yampa Basin Atmosphere and Soil Moisture Integrated Network. Additionally, she served as an assistant GIS lab instructor and tutor at Colorado Mountain College.

Nicole grew up in Carpinteria, California and spent the past six years living in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; she is driven to the environmental field by her deep connection to nature and love for outdoor recreation. With her career, she aspires to use advanced data analytics and communication to bridge the gap from data to impact.
