Something About Me

Born and raised in Visalia, in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Peter is a third year Environmental Studies Major. Inspired by his Puerto Rican heritage, Peter has always been interested in the cultural, spiritual, and historical resonance of the natural world. He plans to create a designer brand that is equal parts sustainable and financially accessible. In addition to his studies, Peter works in community outreach, environmental rehabilitation, and mental health resources. In Theta Nu Kappa, Multicultural and Academic Fraternity Inc. he serves as community service and mental health/wellness chairs. In the summer of 2023, Peter did two internships: at Worldhealer Inc., a local nonprofit that aims to train leaders and activists by promoting self- esteem and self-worth, and at the Storke Ranch Vernal Pools, an environmentally-sensitive ecosystem project that focuses on preserving the native flora and fauna. In his free time, Peter enjoys thrifting, surfing, hiking, roller-skating, and interior design.

He intends to spread awareness of climate change through an acknowledgment of the privileges we hold both as individuals and as a community. Peter dreams of a world where compassion and empathy are valued over traditionalism and affluence and knows that this new beautiful world must start with his own environmental activism.
