Bio
Richard Viebrock graduated from Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) in 2015 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business. Heavily influenced by study abroad experiences in South Africa and Nicaragua, Richard focused his undergraduate business education on the intersection of management, environmental science, and sociology. Upon graduating, Richard spent a year as an Americorps volunteer, working in homeless services in Portland, Oregon. He then went on to work in youth homeless services in Bend, Oregon, where he eventually developed and managed a job training program for homeless and adjudicated youth. Richard’s passion for environmental management is rooted in both his experience in social services and the miles that he has traveled through the woods, on both foot and snowboard. He is alarmed by the inadequate pace at which the global economy is transitioning off fossil fuels, cognizant of the disproportionate impact that this will have on vulnerable populations, and motivated to intervene. Specializing in energy and climate at the Bren school, Richard intends to spend his professional life developing energy transition strategies for city and state governments.
