Bio
Roshni Katrak-Adefowora received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a concentration in Environmental Science from Occidental College in 2019. During her time at Occidental and since graduating, she worked as a Field Administrator for the Pasadena-based land trust, Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy (AFC). Her work involved coordinating and leading field trips for students on AFC’s conserved properties, building public awareness around conservation, and monitoring wildlife cameras. She used these wildlife cameras, along with community science and landscape data, to study connectivity among urban wildlife populations in Southern California. These methods and data were useful for identifying optimal placement of wildlife corridors in urban areas. Driven by a desire to protect wildlife and natural open spaces, Roshni came to Bren to pursue the Conservation Planning specialization. In addition, Roshni strongly believes in the importance of educating and working with the public to solve environmental issues, as well as including community scientists in scientific research, a topic she studied in-depth during her undergraduate research. This has inspired her to pursue the Strategic Environmental Communication and Media focus in which she aims to instill in others enthusiasm and an appreciation for the natural world.
