Ruth Enriquez is currently studying in the Master of Environmental Data Science (MEDS) at University of California, Santa Barbara, combining her passions in data and sustainability. She graduated from University of Hawai'i at Mānoa with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and Finance. Before graduating, Ruth began working at Bank of Hawai'i, the largest locally owned bank in the state. She was in the Information Technology department, with an emphasis on financial management, and continued to work within that department after graduation. While in her role, Ruth witnessed the power that data had to influence corporate-wide decisions.
Ruth’s passion for sustainability comes from being born and raised in Hawai'i. School taught Ruth early on that living in Hawai'i, even as a non-native Hawaiian, that we all have a kuleana (responsibility) to mālama 'āina (care and honor the land). Ruth is excited to explore how she can apply the knowledge gained through her master’s program back home.
