Bio
Ryan Stanley graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies. He cultivated a deep passion for the ocean growing up in a coastal beach town; and has maintained a strong interest in academic study of the environment. During his undergraduate studies, Ryan focused on marine sciences and aquaculture. He worked with his team to test the feasibility of a giant kelp-based fertilizer and researched its potential to sequester atmospheric carbon. Upon graduation, Ryan traveled to Kyoto, Japan to study eco-consciousness and its connection to the cultural and religious history of the city. His research emphasized Kyoto's commitment to protecting its forests and mountain landscapes while maintaining a modern city. After returning to the US, Ryan worked for a small environmental consulting firm that focused on improving California's adoption of renewable energy and bolstering energy efficiency technologies in the state. Specializing in Climate and Energy at the Bren School, Ryan hopes to accelerate the transition to renewables through an interdisciplinary approach
