Bio
Sara Soroka's passion for environmental justice and communication developed during her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies. To hone her interests, she conducted an independent study exploring the effects of social identity cues in digital environmental campaigns, and worked as a Research Assistant for the University of Michigan's Erb Institute. Upon graduating, Sara became the first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator at Yosemite National Park. This experience deepened her understanding of public land management, outdoor access, and food justice, and expanded her skills in community engagement, communication, and dialogue facilitation.
Driven by her desire to expand her knowledge of the environmental field, Sara decided to continue her education at the Bren School. Through specializing in Environmental Policy with a focus in Communication, Sara aims to further explore innovative ways of implementing justice-centered work in the environmental field. After Bren, she plans to pursue a career in the public sector, supporting local-level climate adaptation, policymaking, and organizational communication.
