Bio
Yos Ramirez graduated from the University of Santa Barbara in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolution, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and a minor in Science Writing for the public. During her undergraduate career Yos interned at several ecological and evolutionary labs where climate change was a key factor in determining the research goals, and soon became passionate about solving environmental problems. Soon after graduation, Yos began the MEDS program at Bren where she will be gaining data analysis and synthesis skills. Her career aspirations are to be a role model for her son, a leader in change, and a professor. Currently, Yos is working at a research lab focused on the predictable measures of drought on trees by studying physiological traits. At Bren, she plans on building her skills with machine learning, GIS, and programming languages with a goal to facilitate mitigating environmental issues within different disciplines. Her overall interests include biogeography and ocean pollution among other things.
