Bio
Jaenna’s doctoral research focuses on the sustainability of apparel. She will combine industrial ecology tools such as life cycle assessment and material flow analysis with other techniques to answer questions about fashion supply chains, producer responsibility, and the relationship between labor and economic, social, and environmental outcomes. Jaenna has a Bachelor of Science in Earth System Science with a minor in Global Sustainability from UC Irvine.
Prior to joining the Bren School, she was an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) in Los Angeles where she evaluated municipal and state agency solid waste management program compliance with California waste management statutes and regulations. At CalRecycle, her interest in sustainable fashion was piqued when she joined a textiles focus team and learned of the impacts of textile production and waste on the environment and human livelihoods. Additionally, Jaenna has been a fashion and runway model for the past five years, where she gained knowledge of the fashion industry and its sustainability efforts. Since then, Jaenna has made it her mission to improve the social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry globally.
