PhD Student Timnit Kefela Receives Excellence in Teaching Award
Graduate Student Association Teaching Award recognizes grad students who go above and beyond
Bren PhD student Timnit Kefela has been honored with the 2020 Graduate Student Association's Excellence in Teaching Award. The award recognizes graduate students who have shown excellence and gone above and beyond as teachers at UCSB, as nominated by their peers and students.
Timnit is recognized for teaching and mentoring students in Environmental Biogeochemistry, a core course in the Master of Environmental Science and Management program.
In the PhD in Environmental Science and Management program, Timnit's research focuses on understanding sources, pathways, fates and effects of microplastics in urban soil environments.
