Something About Me

Because I have come to understand the consequences of the impact of human activity on the natural world, as well as my commitment to working toward environmental justice, I have chosen to pursue an Environmental Studies major with a minor in Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice. Even from a young age, I have had a strong appreciation for natural spaces so I would love to dedicate my life towards protecting them. In addition to studying environmental science, I have chosen to study the structural causes of poverty along with some of the proposed solutions, including individual and community-based activism and governmental policy. I have seen first-hand in my low-income community the power of motivated people fighting together against environmental racism. Beginning with my upcoming Capital Internship in Washington, D.C., in 2025, I want to use my career to further the cause of environmental justice. Because my “dream job” would be at the EPA, I plan to use my internship to study the process of developing regulatory policy, with the goal of one day being one of the people making policy that shapes reality. It is a strong ambition but I know it is possible.
