Something About Me

Growing up by the ocean, I have always been in awe of its beauty, mystery, and tranquility. As an incoming third-year Environmental Studies B.S. student, I hope to protect marine and terrestrial environments to ensure that their essential ecosystem services can continue to sustain our planet for future generations. I’m currently the lead intern for the Spotting Giant Sea Bass Project within UCSB's Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory where I integrate technology and community science for conservation. I’m also a Nereid Biomaterials intern at NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary where I research the state of microplastics in West Coast Sanctuaries and assist with in situ field testing. I’m the Director of Sprout Up!, UCSB’s elementary environmental education initiative, and I can be frequently found in first-, second-, and fourth-grade classes teaching lessons on climate change, renewable energy, and strawberry DNA extraction! With a strong passion for science communication, I’m UCSB’s reigning Undergraduate Research Slam Champion, I was awarded “Best Lightning Talk” at the Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology Research Symposium, and I’m publishing my NOAA Conservation Series. In my free time, I love to read, run, hike, scuba dive, and explore Santa Barbara, California, the unceded lands of the Chumash People.
