Something About Me
I am a third year Environmental Studies B.A. student from Houston, Texas. My family moved to Texas in 2017, a month before Hurricane Harvey devastated the Gulf of Mexico. The city of Houston completely flooded, and I saw my newfound community struggle to pick up the pieces in the aftermath. This sparked my interest in environmental impact analysis and the intricate connections between social, economic, and environmental issues. Recently, I’ve taken an interest in a more holistic perspective in the study of sustainable textiles and product creation, looking into overconsumption, life cycle assessment, and circular economic solutions. I spent the better part of my childhood crocheting, a hobby which now inspires me to find small-scale sustainable alternatives within my own life, such as reusing old materials in the clothing production process. In the summer of 2023, I spent my time working in Big Sur for California State Parks while also interning for the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce, working on a sustainable education certification for businesses in the fashion industry.
